Program Description:

DUPC was initiated with a grant from the Donald and Susan Sturm Foundation. It includes an assessment application that can facilitate student and/or program assessment activities by supporting online assessment of student work, and reports of the assessment results.

Academic units using DUPC developed assessment strategies by determining their program goals and learning outcomes, and by identifying student work that demonstrates these outcomes. Criteria to assess the student work are developed using the DUPC rubric builder, and the student work is evaluated within the DUPC framework. The assessment results are stored for retrieval so that comparisons across students and across years may be made.

All faculty members may view the rubrics that are in use by logging on to http://portfolio.du.edu and selecting Instructor Tools from the tabs at the top of the screen. Additional assessment materials may be found on the Office of Academic Assessment website at http://www.du.edu/assessment.

Each workshop will involve a group of faculty members who teach a series of classes that together comprise a component of the curriculum. For example, a group might be members of a single department, or a group of faculty members engaged in teaching foundation courses, or core courses, etc.

Successful proposals will describe an effective process for developing an assessment strategy and how the workshop activities will serve to facilitate its implementation with DUPC. You are encouraged to contact the Office of Academic Assessment to develop your assessment strategy as a part of your proposal preparation.

Award:

Funds may be used for faculty stipends (up to $1,000 per faculty member for significant participation in and contribution to the workshop) and other expenditures that are related to the workshop activities.
